Effective
11/21/03 we installed new mail servers for our customers using
iols.net for their email services
(i.e. Email Address of yourusername@iols.net).
If you are having
troubles sending email at this time please read the following
information...
We installed a new mail server in November 2003 and updated our
outgoing mail server to "smtp".iols.net (No Quotes).
Recently, the
old outgoing mail server that was used for relaying mail that used
mail.iols.net for the outgoing mail was taken down.
All that is required to correct the issue on your PC is a simple
manual update.
To change this manually...
Instructions:
- Menu items to click on and key items
to view are shown in bold blue
- Actual changes are shown in bold
red
(Netscape
Users click here...)
- Open your email client
(Outlook or Outlook Express)
- Click on Tools
- Click on Accounts
- Click on the Mail
tab
- Look in the Account
column and click on your IOLS email account (Usually listed as
"mail.iols.net") listing in the Accounts
column
- Click on Properties
button
- Click on the Servers
tab
- Change Outgoing
mail (SMTP) to:
smtp.iols.net
(This is the update)
Make sure the Account
name field is: yourusername
(IMPORTANT: Do not use @access in the account name field)
Click OK
Click Close
Shut down your email
client
Make sure you are
connected to the Internet
Open your email and
everything should work just fine.
