Setup Instructions for Windows 95

Note: This is a very large graphic intensive page
        and will require a long page load time using a standard dialup connection.

If this is your first internet connection
click on the Internet icon on your Desktop or The Internet icon on your desktop on your desktop.

If you have had an account with another provider you may need to locate the Internet Connection Wizard in your Start menu.  Click on Start, select Programs and look for the program "Internet Connection Wizard" or "Connection Wizard".  

Microsoft has a few different versions for the wizard depending on which version of Windows you are using.  Either way the information required is the same.

When asked what type on connection you want to establish make sure that you specify the you already have an existing Internet account and that you want to set it up on your computer.

You will need to provide a Dialup Access number.   Please refer to our listing by clicking here to local a local dialup access to serve you.

Name your connection "IOLS"

When prompted for your user name and password enter "yourusername@access" (No quotes) and password all in lower case letters only.

When asked if you want to setup an email account select yes.
Your POP3 user name will be "yourusername" (No quotes) only.

The mail servers to enter are "mail.iols.net" (No quotes)

The news server portion of the wizard is similar to the email portion.

Do not setup a Directory service.

When done click finish and you're ready to connect to the Internet by simply clicking on the Internet Icon The Internet Icon on your desktop or the Internet Explorer icon The Internet Explorer Icon on your desktopon your desk top.

Follow the screen shots below to set up your system...

User Name and Password Screen:
Enter the following...
   User name: yourusername@access
   Password: yourpassword
Click "Next"
 
Advanced Settings Screen:
Do you want to change the advanced settings?
   Click on "Yes"
Click "Next"
 
Connection Type Screen:
   Click on "PPP (Point to Point Protocol)"
Click "Next"
 
Logon Procedure Screen:
   Click on "I don't need to type anything when logging on
Click "Next"
 
IP Address Screen:
   Click on "My Internet service provider automatically assigns me one
Click "Next"

 

Set Up Your Internet Mail Account
   Click on "Yes"
Click "Next"
 
Set Up Your Internet News Account
   Click on "No"
Click "Next"
 
Setup Your Internet Mail Account
  Click on "Yes"
Click "Next"
 
Internet Mail Account
   Click on "Create a new Internet mail account"
Click "Next"
 
Your Name
   Display name: Your Name Goes Here
Click "Next"


If your email address is yourusername@iols.com
Enter: yourusername@iols.com

If your email address is yourusername@iols.net
Enter: yourusername@iols.net


If your email address is yourusername@iols.com
Incoming Mail server:  mail.iols.com
Outgoing Mail server: mail.iols.com

If your email address is yourusername@iols.net
Incoming Mail server:  mail.iols.net
Outgoing Mail server: smtp.iols.net

Friendly Name
  Type in "IOLS"
Click "Next"
 
Setup Your News Service
   Click on "No"
Click "Next"
 
Setup Your Internet Directory Service
  Click on "No"
Click "Next"

Wasn't that easy...  Now your ready to go surfin'...
