     Setting up your Internet Connection

Double-click the My Computer Icon My Computer from the desktop.
Double-click the Dial-Up Networking Icon Dial-Up Networking.
Double-Click the Make New Connection Icon Make New Connection.

This will create a new dial-up connection to Inet OnLine Services (IOLS) and bring up the New Connection Wizard.

Name the connection "IOLS".
Your modem should be listed in the drop down list. If not click add and select your modem. If you have problems configuring the modem please consult your modem's manufactures instructions.

Enter the Dialup Access Number (Click here for list) for your location.

Typically all the default settings will be correct for Windows 98 (Windows 95 users see below).

When done an icon will appear in Dialup Networking named "IOLS"
Your Dial-Up Networking group should look similar to this:

Your new connection to IOLS should appear after going through the setup wizard.  Right click on it and select "Properties"

Right click on the IOLS icon and create a shortcut on your desktop.

(Windows 95 users, click here for additional information on setting up your connection)

To use your new connection all you need to do is double click on the "Shortcut to IOLS" icon on your desktop.

When prompted for a username and password enter the following:
User name: yourusername@access
Password:  The password you selected on your registration form when you signed up with IOLS

PLEASE NOTE:
Use all Lower case letters and/or numbers only when entering your username and password.


     Checking your Dialup Networking Connection Settings

Double click on My Computer
Double click on Dialup Networking

Your Dial-Up Networking group should look similar to this:

Your new connection to IOLS should appear after going through the setup wizard.  Right click on it and select "Properties"

Highlight the new icon you made, click the right mouse button and choose Properties from the menu. It should bring up a window that looks similar to the following:

Select your dial-up number from the
List of POP's located on our web site.

Make sure the phone number and modem selections are correct.

Click the Server Type button (Win 95) or tab (Win 98) to bring up its dialog box.
The following screen should match your display.

Press the Server Type button to bring up its dialog box.  Select "Enable software compression" and "TCP/IP"

Windows 98 Server Types screen.  Windows 95 users will have a similar screen.  Only select Enable Software Compression and TCP/IP.

For both Windows 95 and 98 - Only select Enable Software Compression and TCP/IP.
(If any other items are checked simply click on them to remove the check mark.)

Click on the TCP/IP Settings button in "Allowed Network Protocols".
The following screen will appear.

(Make sure your settings match the ones above.)

The first button (Server assigned IP address) and third button (Server assigned name server addresses)
should be selected.
Enter the following information for Primary and Secondary Servers in
Make sure last two boxes are checked.  If not, click on them to place a check mark in them.

Once your options match the screen above go ahead and hit the OK buttons to leave this setup
